We personally are a huge fan of Soap Matters, so we wanted to find out more about the brand and how biodegradable labels were a perfect fit for their own green credentials. A BIT ABOUT SOAP MATTERS
Could you explain a bit about what you do and how you got started?
“Soap Matters started out from my career in aromatherapy (I am a clinical aromatherapist) and my interest in natural products. Many products may start out very natural but over time and with large scale manufacturing, a lot of products move away from their natural roots. Therefore, I wanted to make 100% natural products that were optimal for people’s skin. All our products are 100% natural, vegan and tested by an independent chemist and registered with the government portal. We provide complete transparency for our customers.”
Tell us a bit more about your range
“Initially I started with soap, manufacturing very small batches in my kitchen. I have grown my product range to include Hand Oil, which is extremely moisturising but not greasy and specially formulated to repair hands from the drying effects of the cold weather and all the sanitising people now do as a result of the pandemic. We offer Body Oil, Foot Oil, a range of Face Oils formulated to help control blemish and acne conditions, products for sensitive skins, rosacea, and drying aging skin. Very popular are our aromasticks which are so helpful for destressing and calming the mind, and we also have designer soap dishes and a range of gift boxes.

What have been some of the high points so far?
“I now have a dedicated workshop with racks for storage, making facilities and areas for hand cutting and wrapping. And we were finalists at the Free from Skincare Awards 2021 and a winner of a Bronze Award (Face Oil No1) in 2022. Makes all the hard work worth it!”
What are the challenges for the future of Soap Matters?
“Our challenges going forward are how we grow the business; how we mechanise more whilst keeping our products natural and retaining our branding. We also want to develop and promote our website. “
