Why are biodegradable and compostable label materials more expensive?
Well, they aren’t always, but that is often the perception. Where they are more expensive it means the materials are produced in smaller quantities and don’t benefit from economies of scale in the way some other materials do. We hope that this will change over time and especially as more and more people realise the benefits of using planet-friendly biodegradable and compostable materials. Additionally, the production process can be more expensive for some compostable materials for example, but again in the future, we expect this to lessen.

But are there other ways to reduce the cost of eco-friendly labels? Absolutely yes! A more cost-effective biodegradable label uses less ink and less material so where you can get by with a smaller and simpler label you could consider these options. What about a biodegradable sticker instead of a large label? Essentially a smaller label is more planet-friendly too, if you think about it.
How else can I reduce the cost of eco-friendly stickers?
Did you also know you can reduce the cost per label by ordering a larger quantity? It may seem odd but as the volume of labels increases, so the price per label significantly decreases. Next time you ask for a quote, we’d suggest asking us to also give you a price for a larger quantity so you can compare. You might just be pleasantly surprised and of course, nobody ever wants to run out of labels, so you’ll have less to worry about on that front.
