Recycled Labels are Here

Recycled labels are here

The GREEN LABEL company specialise in compostable and biodegradable labels and stickers but have just recently added a recycled label material to our current offerings.

The material is recycled PP (Polypropylene) meaning it is made from recycled plastic, so it may not be suitable for all, however it does offer some advantages, as well as disadvantages.

Recycled PP labels are good for…

  • Products where the label is exposed to grease, moisture, and UV light. This could be for food and beverage labels, essential oils, health and beauty, barcode labels and more.

  • This material works well on a rigid container or vessel such as glass, metal or plastic and can be safely applied to food packaging as it meets EU safety standards.

  • Most printing processes and different inks can be used, and the labels have a good shelf life of about 2 years.

  • The recycled content of the material is 90+99% for the different layers that make up the label material and so will be exempt from the government plastic packaging tax that is being introduced from April 2022.

Where recycled PP label material will not work well…

  • Due to the rigid nature of the label material itself this material will not be suitable for tubes or where the packaging has a level of flexibility or squeezability.

  • While the material is made from recycled plastic it is not recyclable meaning, that under current conditions, it could end up in landfill.

The trademark name for this recycled label material is Fasson, and the full specification is available on request.
